*Newton Art Association presents a Demonstration with Larry Calkins on Thursday, October 12th at 7:00 pm. Using mediums such as acrylic, oil paint, encaustic wax, and tempera, Calkins will create scissor-cut paper stencils to make complex paintings on surfaces including wood, paper, or canvas. *Newton Nomadic Theater presents The Village Cidiot for 2 nights on Friday – Saturday, October 13-14th at 7:30 pm at Gregorian Rugs. When a lifelong New York City couple gets laid off from their jobs, they pack up everything and move to a tiny village in the Berkshires. They discover that the locals call them and the other transplanted New Yorkers “Cidiots.” Don’t be a “Cidiot” and get your tickets now.

*On Saturday, October 14th at 7:30 pm NCA’s Artist in Residence, Cherry Street Music, opens the Classical With A Twist Series with a fabulous program featuring the universal message of Love chosen to inspire an evening of classical music and contemporary poetry. Get your tickets for some Love.

*Capella Clausura’s season starts with Hilary Tann’s Exultet Terra at Grace Church on Saturday, October 14th at 8:00 p.m. & Emmanuel Church on Sunday, October 15th at 4:00 p.m. This exhilarating 45-minute work for a double reed quintet and double choir dispels the notion that women can only write for the salon. *Have some fall fun with The Suzuki School of Newton at the Harvest Fair this weekend in Newton Centre. Suzuki School of Newton students perform on the Community Stage from 11:45 to 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 15th. The event is a full weekend celebration with games, rides, food, vendors, and two stages for live music. Hosted by the City of Newton check out the lineup of performers and family-friendly activities.
