*The Newton Free Library presents Discovering Hand Lettering on Thursday, January 20 at 2:00 pm. Learn a fun and mindful hobby for the New Year! Pick up a kit and practice writing quotes from the hilarious Moira Rose of Schitt’s Creek. Haven’t seen the show? No worries, you’ll learn a new skill and have some laughs. *Newton Open Studios juried exhibit UNQUIET opens on Friday, January 21 at Galatea Fine Arts in the SoWa arts district. Over 35 Newton artists will present artworks including photographer, Howard E. Fineman’s piece “Order & Chaos 1, Greenway, Boston.” Attend an opening reception on February 6 and visit the gallery in person or online here. 

*The Scandinavian Cultural Center hosts Men of Terror: A Comprehensive Analysis of Viking Combat on Saturday, January 22 at 1:00 pm. Join Dr. William R. *Newton Theater Company’s Zoom Radio Hour is back with a riveting and intimate production of “The Scottish Play.” Watch this all-woman ensemble take on Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth live on Saturday, January 22 at 8:00 pm.  Log on early to hear live music followed by a Scotch tasting. Whether you sign on in sweatpants or a suit, this event will bring a sense of refinement to your evening at home.
