Historic Newton: Exploring “The Great Curve” Painting

August 13, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

How does art tell a story? What can “The Great Curve of the Boston and Worcester Railroad at Newton,” a landscape painting by Samuel Adams Hudson, teach us about Newton and America in the mid-1800s and our lives today? We will explore history, the works and writings of the Hudson River School painters, photographs and journal entries to better understand Historic Newton’s newly acquired painting.

This event will take place over Zoom on Thursday, August 13th at 5:00PM. Suggested donation, $10; Historic Newton members, $5. Register here to receive the Zoom link.
