SUMMARY:New Art Center presents: Site Specific Dance - For All Movers\, Artists\, and Dancers
DESCRIPTION:Improvise and make dances (all levels are invited) live\, and\, in-person\, inspired by the world around you: your kitchen\, your car\, a skyscraper\, a park bench. You will receive prompts one week in advance of class to inspire you to create a short movement piece. These short dances (~1 min) can provide a jumping-off point for further expansion\, they can be transformed into a 2D work of art\, or they can stand on their own two feet. During class we will share our creations\, and\, we will improvise together based on themes. Brilliance and some silliness will ensue. DESCRIPTION:Join the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Bill Cannon and Sue Svelnis for an introduction to the wonderful world of hiking! From a gentle stroll through the woods to a challenging workout with lots of hills\, there are so many ways to enjoy nature and so many great places to begin close to home. The AMC will lead you in choosing your adventure\, and guide you with tips on what steps to take. Topics covered will include: \n\nTypes of hikes\nLeave no trace and safety principles\nSuggested local hikes\n\nBill Cannon and Sue Svelnis both lead hikes for the Southeastern MA Chapter of the AMC. Bill was the Conservation Chair and now holds the Vice Chair position. Sue is the chapter’s Education Chair. This program is cosponsored by Green Newton\, Newton Conservators and the Newton Tree Conservancy. \nRegistration for this program will end two hours before the start time.
