SUMMARY:Canceled-Commonwealth Chorale presents: Country Sounds
DESCRIPTION:Classical or bluegrass? In our second concert of the season\, no need to choose. Composer Carol Barnett has combined the two styles in her bluegrass Mass\, The World Beloved. In her unusual approach Barnett has written what she calls “cheery sacred music\,” blending the usual solemnity of a Mass with down-home energy and rhythms of bluegrass. Please join us to hear Gwyneth Walker comment on her work and see how successful she is in her wonderful combination of styles. The performance will be accompanied by the renowned bluegrass band\, Monroe Crossing. \nIn addition\, the chorus will perform selections from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs: Long Time Ago\, At the River\, and Simple Gifts. Monroe Crossing will also perform a set of bluegrass music. \nTo purchase tickets\, click here.
