The Italian style is typically simply referred to as “trecento” notation\, named after the century. Recognized as one of the most famous composers of the Italian trecento is Francesco Landini (ca. 1324-1397)\, who was a blind composer\, organist\, singer\, poet\, and instrument maker. We will explore his compositions transmitted in sources such as the beautiful early 15th century Squarcialupi Codex and others.
