Imagine ways to explore the skies – on the wings of a bird\, by hot air balloon\, in a spaceship\, through a telescope or on the tail of a kite! \nGrades 2-5 spend Summer Vacation immersed in the arts. New Art faculty conduct real-time classes through Zoom video meetings. DESCRIPTION:New Art Live Online Learning – Weekly online class at designated class times. New Art faculty conduct a real-time class through Zoom video meetings. \nOrigami\, the art of paper folding\, is a fun and easy art that can be done at all levels. It is simple to do at home and needs no special paper. Origami is also a great way to develop and increase fine motor skills. These live online classes will follow the skills of the students and adjust projects accordingly. We will learn about the history of Origami as well as the basic folds\, and create simple projects including the traditional origami Cicada. \nPlease note: Online registration for this class ends on Wednesday\, August 5th at 12PM. What can “The Great Curve of the Boston and Worcester Railroad at Newton\,” a landscape painting by Samuel Adams Hudson\, teach us about Newton and America in the mid-1800s and our lives today? We will explore history\, the works and writings of the Hudson River School painters\, photographs and journal entries to better understand Historic Newton’s newly acquired painting. \nThis event will take place over Zoom on Thursday\, August 13th at 5:00PM.
