DESCRIPTION:New Art Live Online Learning – Weekly online class at designated class times. New Art faculty conduct a real-time class through Zoom video meetings. \nThis five-week Zoom course helps students develop a photography project from idea to completion. Use the supportive structure of weekly instruction and feedback to develop your own photography project. We will focus on exploration of concept\, the creation curve\, the editing process\, critique\, and presentation. The class will culminate in a slideshow of the student projects.\nStudents should have an understanding of the basics of photography\, their cameras\, and editing software\, as this class is not focused on the technical elements of photography\, but the ideas and concepts of photography. The instructor\, Julie Williams-Krishnan\, is a widely exhibited fine art photographer and teacher\, and the Director of Programs at the Griffin Museum of Photography. Materials: Camera (digital or film\, but you need to be able to share your images electronically)\, photo editing software on your computer\, journal/sketchbook\, a way to print images (at home or via a store/lab). New Art faculty conduct a real-time class through Zoom video meetings. \nOrigami\, the art of paper folding\, is a fun and easy art that can be done at all levels. It is simple to do at home and needs no special paper. Origami is also a great way to develop and increase fine motor skills. These live online classes will follow the skills of the students and adjust projects accordingly. We will learn about the history of Origami as well as the basic folds. Students will begin with simple projects and build up to more intermediate ones such as an origami Jumping Frog. \nPlease note: Online registration for this class ends on Thursday\, August 6th at 12PM. SUMMARY:NAC's Call for Art: Trio Newton Satellite Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The New Art Center has some amazing opportunities available for 2-D artists that have taught or taken a class with us!  We’re pleased to announce that we’ve added a new satellite gallery to our art-lending program: Trio Newton\, the new development right in Newtonville! \nWe are looking for work that is approximately 18Wx24H\, 24W x 36H\, and 42Wx60H in size. Work must be framed and ready to hang\, or on stretched canvas. We cannot accommodate unframed canvas panels unless they have picture wire attached to the back and can hang as stretched canvases would. No command strips. \nTrio Newton is also looking to fill one of their walls with artwork of varying sizes hung in a salon style. Work for this wall can be as small as 12Wx12H and as large as 22Wx36H. The same requirements in regard to framing and hanging guidelines apply. \nThe New Art Center launched its original art-lending program in 2011. When possible\, the program offers artists an opportunity to loan works of art and receive a stipend\, and also facilitates commissions for corporate and other clients. New Art Center manages the art selection and installation working closely with our partners. \nEligibility: Students and instructors associated with the New Art Center. \nSubmitted work will be on loan for six months. Please email exhibitions@newartcenter.org with any additional questions. \nFor a chance to have your art displayed\, fill out this submission form! The deadline to submit work is Friday\, August 7th\, 2020.

What is the glowing quality that appears in the work of many master painters? How does an artist make this happen?
