SUMMARY:Newton Theatre Company presents "Twilight: Los Angeles\, 1992"
DESCRIPTION:NTC’s announcement of our ninth season will be out soon\, but we couldn’t wait to tell you about the first production in our lineup\, taking place outside at the Hyde Bandstand. \n\nTwilight: Los Angeles\, 1992 is a dissection of the 1992 Los Angeles protests after the trial regarding the beating of Rodney King by the police. This stunning work of documentary theatre uses the verbatim words of those who experienced the event as well as those who reflected on how the moment scarred Los Angeles and captured the nation’s attention. A piece more relevant now than ever\, Twilight: Los Angeles\, 1992 speaks directly to the heart of the issues of race\, class\, and access still roiling our country. \nClick here to purchase your pay-what-you-can ticket. \n\n\nCOVID Protocols– What to Expect at Our Outdoor Performances \nAll performers are vaccinated and will not be wearing masks. They will be wearing microphones and their voices will be amplified. Seating starts 25 feet away from the bandshell. The field where the audience will be seated is large\, so we encourage our attendees to spread out when seating themselves.

Peters\nDirected by Jaime Carrillo \n\nFollowing the success of New Rep’s first Historical Moving Play\, the Charles W. Experience\, audiences were clamoring for more. Listen to Sipu answers the call with a captivating and powerful story that illuminates Watertown’s Indigenous history. Join in on a socially-distanced performance lead by a modern-day Tour Guide and meet Sipu\, a quick-witted Indigenous woman who’s more than willing to correct misinformation when she hears it.  Armed with facts\, The Tour Guide begins describing Watertown’s local history only to find that the facts are missing a lot of truths. SUMMARY:New Rep Theatre presents: Listen to Sipu
DESCRIPTION:Listen to Sipu – A Watertown Historical Moving Play\n\nBy Morgan (Mwalim) J. Sipu is ready to step in and set the record straight\, as long as audiences are ready to listen. Click here to buy tickets.

SUMMARY:Festival of the Arts: Newton Nomadic Theatre's Story Slam
DESCRIPTION:As part of the 6th Annual Newton Festival of the Arts\, the Newton Nomadic Theatre presents their next Story Slam. \nNNT Story Slams have become legendary in Newton featuring everyone from celebrities\, politicians\, to next door neighbors. They provide the light\, you provide the face and the story.   The idea is simple – a community storytelling night\, based loosely on NPR’s very popular Moth Radio Hour. Come to hear the stories\, or if you’re game\, throw your name in the hat to tell a story. They should be related to the night’s theme.  They should be approximately 5 minutes long\, and have happened to you.  Beyond that\, it’s up to you – funny\, moving\, poignant\, insane\, ridiculous whatever you like.
