SUMMARY:Scandinavian Cultural Center presents The New England Mosaic Society Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:THE NEW ENGLAND MOSAIC SOCIETY EXHIBIT\n\n\nThe New England Mosaic Society is holding an exhibit of mosaics created by the members participating in the 2023 and 2020 Collaborative Projects. The final mosaic is the result of a collaboration between two artists. One artist starts the mosaic\, the other artist finishes it. All the mosaics will be on display in our Nordic Hall. The exhibit will also include mosaics by Richard Youngstrom and Karen Edlund. This commemorative exhibit recognizes the major contributions these deceased artists made to NEMS and the larger mosaic community. \n\nOpening reception Sunday\, August 13th | 4-6pm | FREE with registration\n \n“The New England Mosaic Society (NEMS) is a volunteer organization that promotes and supports mosaics as a fine art. It began in 2015 when ten mosaicists came together at Mosaic Oasis in Arlington\, MA and started the discussion to form the society. Today\, its mission is to promote contemporary mosaic art while preserving traditional techniques. \n \nNEMS is committed to building a diverse and welcoming community of artists of all ability levels\, as well as lovers and supporters of mosaic art. Membership is open to all New England mosaic artists including amateurs\, professionals\, and mosaic suppliers. Members are encouraged to grow through education\, sharing of information\, and involvement in exhibitions and community events.”
