SUMMARY:New Art Center presents: Artist Talk with Julie Beck
DESCRIPTION:In an unlikely turn of events\, Julie Beck became an artist. Starting with a less than mediocre natural artistic ability\, a degree in mathematics and a career in design/video editing\, a life completely centered around art and painting seemed unlikely. And yet\, this talk will prove otherwise. This is a Cinderella story with less gowns and much more paint-covered overalls. \nJulie is a Boston-based artist\, an instructor at and the Assistant Director of the Academy of Realist Art Boston. Julie uses painting to create accessible work that engages the viewer on multiple levels. By manipulating design\, composition\, and narrative\, Julie’s work strives to leave an impact on viewers that leaves them asking questions about the connections we find around ourselves. \nRegister here. \n
