SUMMARY:Newton Nomadic Theater: No Exit
DESCRIPTION:Something old\, something new – Noni Lewis\, one of our regular actors in recent years (Revolutionists\, Colder Than Here\, Dracula: the Bloody Truth) is in the director’s seat this time out\, with her original take on a famous classic – No Exit. A slightly odd and inscrutable bellhop leads three different guests into the same hotel room.  Their three lives and three stories unfold in disturbing\, surprising\, and at times very funny ways\, because there is ‘no exit.’\nEach week No Exit will move to a different\, interesting\, and unusual performance space.  Like nomads the world over\, Newton Nomadic Theater never settles in any place for long. After just a few performances\, they get restless\, pack up the camels and move on. Tickets are $20. Click here for the full list of dates and venues.

SUMMARY:Pro Arte's All-Mozart Salon
DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy this classic all-Mozart program featuring the rich tenor voices of french horn and viola. The rarely heard horn quintet\, featuring the playing of Pro Arte’s principal horn Robert Marlatt\, will surely be a treasure. Musicologist Alfred Einstein\, a great fan of this work\, described the slow movement “a little love duet between horn and violin.” It is also interesting to note that Mozart chose to write for two violas\, perhaps because he felt their timbre best accompanied the horn. Also featured is one of Mozart’s most famous chamber music works: the iconic viola quintet in G minor with it’s hauntingly gorgeous melodies. Cost: $20-25. More info at proarte.org.

In this workshop\, students will stitch\, bind\, clamp\, and pole wrap cotton and silk scarves to be dyed. Each student will make 4-5 scarves. Once the scarves are dyed and resists are removed\, beautiful patterns emerge. Much like tie-dye\, there is an element of surprise once you dye your scarves and see what patterns appear. This class will use reactive dyes in a variety of colors. No experience necessary. Bring a lunch. Most supplies included; see website for materials list. The cost is $185.
