Every Thursday through mid-August a different Newton restaurant pops up on the tented patio along with a rotating showcase of Newton’s small businesses. We’ve got a treasure trove of local talent coming to The Allen Center. Energetic music by Newton Youth Artists\, including Jessica Levinson and Jack Kalish-Demaris\, Allison Eldredge with the Mello Cellos\, and Natalie Levinson on vocals. Sabbath Queen is a feature documentary filmed over 21 years\, follows Rabbi Amichai Lau Lavie’s epic journey as the dynastic heir of 38 generations of Orthodox rabbis\, including the Chief Rabbis of Israel. Torn between rejecting and embracing his destiny\, Amichai becomes a drag-queen rebel\, a queer bio-dad\, and the founder of Lab/Shul—an everybody-friendly\, God-optional\, artist-driven\, pop-up experimental congregation.

DESCRIPTION:The 3rd annual summertime pop-up series at West Newton’s Allen Center kicks off on Thursday\, July 24th with a blockbuster—reknown celebrity chef Thiago Silva of SALT Patisserie is catering lunch. Every Thursday through mid-August a different Newton restaurant pops up on the tented patio along with a rotating showcase of Newton’s small businesses. The event runs from 11:30 AM-2 PM\, and all meals must be ordered on-line. (Food will not be for sale at the pop-up.)
