SUMMARY:Pro Arte's All-Mozart Salon
DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy this classic all-Mozart program featuring the rich tenor voices of french horn and viola. The rarely heard horn quintet\, featuring the playing of Pro Arte’s principal horn Robert Marlatt\, will surely be a treasure. Musicologist Alfred Einstein\, a great fan of this work\, described the slow movement “a little love duet between horn and violin.” It is also interesting to note that Mozart chose to write for two violas\, perhaps because he felt their timbre best accompanied the horn. Also featured is one of Mozart’s most famous chamber music works: the iconic viola quintet in G minor with it’s hauntingly gorgeous melodies. Cost: $20-25. More info at proarte.org.
