The Festival will be a two-day event held in partnership with the Hyde Community Center at the Hyde Playground in Newton Highlands. The Festival of the Arts will kick off on Friday\, July 21st at 6:30 pm with a Pops-style concert by the New Philharmonia Orchestra.\nOn Saturday\, July 22nd\, NCP will be hosting 10+ performances on 2 alternating stages all day at the Hyde Playground from Noon to 8:00 pm. \nThere will be something for everyone to enjoy – musical performances\, visual arts\, vendor/craft booths\, and more! All festival performances are free and open for all to enjoy. \nThe Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts has been a showcase of Newton and regional talent for years and NCP is excited to once again bring a summer weekend of music and family-friendly entertainment. DESCRIPTION:During the summer\, the Hyde Community Center hosts an outdoor summer family concert and movie series on Friday nights\, featuring local bands and family-friendly films. A few times throughout the summer\, the bandstand is used to stage live theater productions\, and story-telling. These free events held in the Hyde Playground on the Hyde Community Center bandstand draw hundreds of local families. \nOn August 27th\, come see the Black Velvet Band\, followed by a showing of Mrs. Doubtfire.

Ten names will be drawn from the hat! \nNow Listen Here is bringing its storytelling open-mic to the outdoor stage at the Hyde Bandstand in Newton on Saturday\, October 10 from 2:00-4:00pm. Prepare a 5-minute story (with no notes) on the theme of Summer is Over or just get ready to listen to great stories marking the change of seasons. \nAudience members must pre-register on EventBrite. \nWear a mask\, and bring your own blanket or chair for social distancing on the lawn. Free with support from Newton Community Pride and the City of Newton Parks\, Recreation and Culture and the Hyde Community Center. Registration required\, due to COVID restrictions on attendance.
