SUMMARY:Scandinavian Cultural Center's SMA Art Auction
DESCRIPTION:When I first started envisioning SMÅ ART\, our small works event\, it was to be a night meant to be in our beautiful Nordic Hall\, bustling with artists and friends. We’d enjoy some wine and treats together and look at an explosion of 8×8 art pieces from artists from across the country. The night would end with a silent auction; guests leaving with a special 8×8 creation that caught not only their eyes\, but their heart. Sadly this vision was not destined to happen\, but with so many talented and generous artist working on pieces especially for SMÅ ART we knew that we couldn’t let even a global pandemic stop us. \nWe ask that you grab a glass of wine (or drink of choice) and invite some friends to share in a virtual art show and auction all to support the Scandinavian Cultural Center. 70% of sales will go towards future programming and 30% to the artists. The auction will run for two weeks\, Please share with friends. \n\nFor more information on this event please visit their website http://scandicenter.org/event/sma-art-small-works-exhibition-fundraiser/ \n

SUMMARY:SCC Concert: The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc is a fiddle trio that masterfully blends the traditions of Norway\, Sweden\, and the Shetland Islands. Olav Luksengård Mjelva (Norway)\, Anders Hall (Sweden)\, and Kevin Henderson (Shetland Islands)\, have swiftly gained a reputation for their gripping and unique blend of fiddle music since the inception of the Bloc in early 2009. They maintain a firm focus on the traditions of their home\, while developing a sound that has been described as “meaningful\,””intense\,” and “invigorating.” Their clever use of harmony\, rhythm\, riffs\, and bass lines creates a sound that leaves the listener enthralled but at the same time dumbfounded that the sound only comes from three fiddles. Cost is $20; $10 for SCC members. More info at scandicenter.org. \n“Seldom before can three fiddlers have sounded so well matched as the Nordic Fiddlers Bloc. And seldom before can three fiddles have sounded so much like four and at times five instruments without using electronic trickery.” – The Herald
