*Attend Best Practices for Artists hosted online by the Newton Art Association this Thursday, March 16th at 7:00 pm. Provincetown-based artist and teacher Laura Shabott will take you through the who, what, when, where, and why of an artist’s practice. The term ‘artist practice’ is an on-trend popular term but what does it really mean, and most importantly, what does it mean to you? *The Scandinavian Cultural Center invites you to an open painting session on Saturday, March 18th at 1:00 pm entitled, Let’s Paint Like Bjørn Wiinblad. Bjørn Wiinblad was a multi-talented Danish artist with a trademark style of bright colors, natural motifs, and whimsical lines. Register here for your ceramic egg cups and acrylic paint pens to make your very own Bjorn Wiinblad-style piece to bring home with you.
*Celebrate Bluegrass and Love on Sunday, March 19th at 3:00 pm. In Commonwealth Chorale’s second concert of the season, there is no need to choose. Composer Carol Barnett has combined two styles in her unique bluegrass Mass, The World Beloved. In addition, the Chorale will perform a selection of Commonwealth Composer Kevin Siegfried’s acclaimed arrangements of Shaker songs. *The Scandinavian Cultural Center hosts Suzanne Matson for a lecture and workshop on Sunday, March 19th at 3:00 pm. Attend the lecture about “Writing the Finnish- American Story” and afterward stay for the 2-hour workshop “Writing Our Family Stories.” Finlandia Foundation’s National Lecturer of the Year will talk about the process of turning personal and public history into literature. *NewTV’s first-ever hybrid Annual Membership Meeting launches on Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:00 pm. Those attending in person can arrive at the studio early for refreshments and networking.
