*This weekend only Saturday & Sunday, April 27-28 from 11:00 am- 5:00 pm Newton Open Studios’ annual event with approximately 130 artists will exhibit all over Newton. Each venue may host anywhere from 1 to 15 artists, with Newton City Hall hosting even more. Check out the available map online and start planning your route.

*Join All Newton Music School on Saturday, April 27th at 4:30 pm for Woodwinds and Brass Showcase, an evening featuring their talented teaching artists Hannah Messenger, french horn, Alessandro Cirafici, oboe, Devon Nelson, bassoon, Kate Davison, flute, Richard Shaughnessy, clarinet, David Stevens, saxophone, and Grant Randall, trombone. *On Saturday, April 27th at 5:00 pm Suzuki School of Newton hosts Pianos Galore, a dazzling concert of piano music presented by students of the Suzuki School of Newton at the Newton Presbyterian Church. Come and support Suzuki students as they celebrate the fruits of their hard work. More info here for this free public event.

*The Highland Glee Club presents an elegant evening of Old World charm and sophistication on Saturday, April 27th at 8:00 pm with a Schubertiade. This will be an entire evening of works of Franz Schubert. Works for men’s choir will be interspersed with piano solos by Jonathan Reddix and the rarely heard “Arpeggione” Sonata performed on double bass. Get your tickets now for this Schubert Tribute. 

*Cappella Clausura performs Vespers by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani (1650) with the help of Haydn + Handel’s Chorus of Soprano and Altos on Saturday & Sunday, April 27-28 at 8:00 pm & 4:00 pm. Featuring an organ, 2 gambas, 3 theorbos, and choruses of men and women; this performance is a spectacular end to an already exciting season. As this is Amelia LeClair’s last performance as Artistic Director for Cappella Clausura, this is a must-see event this spring.
