*The Allen Center for the Arts hosts two fabulous events this weekend. Live on stage Saturday, May 6th at 7:30 pm are Paul Rishell & Annie Raines. These award-winning masters are hailed as one of the world’s best blues duos. Then on Sunday, May 7th from 1:00-3:00 pm join the Newton Art Association and member artists for the Spring Exhibit Opening Reception. Tickets and more info about these events are found here.
*Andromeda Belly Dance presents The Spring Hafla on Saturday, May 6th at 7:00 pm. A bi-annual multicultural showcase of dance ranging from MENAHT (Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic, Turkish) to Asian, Balkan, and Eastern European styles, this event is not to be missed. *The Newton Piano Summit 2023 season kicks off the annual piano event of the season this weekend Saturday & Sunday, May 6 & 7 from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm. With 8 concerts running for two consecutive weekends, this musical event will feature Classical, Latin, Jazz, and more at Second Church in Newton. As always admission is free and donations are welcome. Check out the website here to learn about the participating musicians.
*On Saturday, May 7th at 4:00 pm there are two excellent musical performances to choose from by The Newton Family Singers and First Church of Chestnut Hill. The Newton Family Singers perform a new music concert by one of the greatest songwriters of all time, iconic “rock ‘n’ roll poet”, Bruce Springsteen. Tickets for “The Boss” concert are available here. Or visit First Church in Chestnut Hill for a performance of On Broadway with selections from Rent, Hamilton, My Fair Lady, Carousel, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables. This evening of show tunes is free and open to the public.
