*Summer In the Highlands is back all summer long with free, incredible outdoor programming! The Hyde Community Center hosts an outdoor family concert and movie series on Friday nights featuring local bands and family-friendly films. These free events on the Hyde Community Center Bandstand showcase a myriad of NCA Member Organizations and draw hundreds of local families. Next up on the schedule Friday, June 14th at 6:00 p.m. is a concert with “The Ivory Rockers’ Dueling Pianos” followed by the film “Barbie.” Saturday, June 15th from 12-4:00 pm, brings Newton’s Juneteenth Celebration. Then on Sunday, June 16th  at 7:00 p.m. the Highland Glee Club performs Love-In 24. More information is below. Check out the online schedule for full information and weather updates.

*On Saturday, June 15th at 3:00 pm, Sheffield Chamber Players present Event Horizon, a night of music and more in partnership with The Allen Center in West Newton. Get ready for an intimate public performance to close out the 10th season. Event Horizon features Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté’s rustic and catchy Tegere Tulon, Valentyn Silvestrov’s mesmerizing String Quartet No.1, and Dvořák’s monumental “American” String Quintet. In addition, you’ll hear from hosts who have opened their homes to Sheffield over the past decade, and learn how you can share this unique experience with your neighbors, friends, and loved ones. *On Sunday, June 16th at 7:00 pm The Highland Glee Club presents Love-In 2024: Make Love Not War. Welcome summer with The Highland Glee Club’s music of peace, love, and understanding: close covers of counter-culture songs of the 60s and early 70s, with outstanding men’s harmony vocals, Firefly Band, and pro-sound. This is an outdoor concert at the Hyde Bandstand, so bring a chair and get ready to groove. 

*Celebrate the historic occasion of Juneteenth at The Allen Center with Forever Free as we come together to honor freedom and equality. On Wednesday, June 19th there will be two shows to choose from at 2:00 pm or 6:00 pm. Immerse yourself in a day filled with arts and culture and live performances by award-winning vocalist Donna McElroy & Cherry Street Music Artistic Director Allison Eldredge accompanied by a live rhythm section. Enjoy the music of traditional spirituals, Black American songwriters, Duke Ellington & Stevie Wonder. With a gallery exhibition by Lou Jones entitled “panAFRICAproject.” Mark your calendars for an immersive and memorable experience! 

*Join The Black Feathers on Thursday, June 20th at 7:30 pm for an unforgettable evening at The Allen Center. Performing live, this dynamic duo brings their unique blend of Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock to our historic venue. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience their soulful harmonies and captivating lyrics in person. Mark your calendars and prepare for a night filled with incredible music and good vibes!
