*On Friday, October 14th at 12:00 pm the All Newton Music School invites you to take a peek behind the curtain for Con Brio Club. *Historic Newton hosts a Walking Tour of Newton Highlands on Saturday, October 15th at 1:00 pm. How did Newton Highlands grow from a rural crossroads at Centre Street and Route 9 into the vibrant village that we know today? Get your tickets for a tour past key landmarks from the 1800s.
*The Highland Glee Club performs Songs ‘O the Highlands on Saturday, October 15th at 3:00 pm. Part-songs and drinking songs enjoy these works by Mendelssohn, Poulenc, and Elgar, along with a selection of Scottish folk songs. Tickets are available now for this concert at Newton City Hall’s War Memorial Auditorium.
*The Scandinavian Cultural Center hosts a lecture entitled Gunnar Widforss–Painter of the National Parks on Sunday, October 16th at 1:00 pm. Alan Petersen discusses the life of Gunnar Widforss-painter of the National Parks. Through the Roaring Twenties and the first half of the Great Depression, the Swedish-born landscape painter Gunnar Widforss (1879-1934) focused his discerning eye and passionate energy on the national parks of the American West. *Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston presents A Benefit For Ukraine on Sunday, October 16th at 7:00 pm. Various musicians come together to perform a moving evening of music to raise money for those suffering in Ukraine. All proceeds will be donated by Pro Arte to the Relief Fund for Ukrainian Musicians. Tickets for this event are available here for a suggested donation of $50.
