NCA is keeping you connected with each other and with your favorite local arts and culture organizations.
*Join Pro Arte for their Summer Salon Series concert on Thursday, August 27th at 7:00 PM on Facebook Live. These concerts will continue throughout the summer, on every other Thursday until September 10th. This week, the program will feature works by Brahms and Mozart. Suggested donation is $25. *The Newton Free Library invites you to join them in celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday. On Thursday, August 27th at 7:00 PM, Paul-André Bempéchat will perform a selection of sonatas in honor of Beethoven’s birthday over Facebook Live. Paul-André Bempéchat is Music Fellow at Harvard’s Cabot House. A Juilliard and Sorbonne graduate, he has enjoyed a forty-year performing and teaching career on both sides of the Atlantic, having performed at venues as prestigious as Berlin’s Konzerthaus, the Vienna Festival, Jordan Hall and Alice Tully Hall. *Amherst Early Music will end the month of classes with an Open Mic event! On Saturday, August 29, at 1:00 pm, instrumentalists or singers are invited to perform a short piece of music (5 minutes maximum) for our supportive AEM community. Silent applause is guaranteed! You can perform a solo or a piece of chamber music with a recording. Limited to 10 performing spots. Send an email to: info@amherstearlymusic.org if interested.
*Join the Newton Theatre Company on August 29th at 8:00 PM, for their next Zoom Radio Hour The Mrs., a new play by Maggie Kearnan. The wealthy and mysterious M arrives at her spacious lake house with her young assistant Joseline in tow. As Joseline starts to wonder if she will ever leave, a power-play unfolds. Join us for this exciting new thriller by Newton Theatre Company’s own up-and-coming playwright Maggie Kearnan. Join us at 7:45 for original music by Naomi Li. Tickets are $10. *Join the Newton Free Library for Beginner Drawing Studio: Eyes, Noses, & Mouth, a drawing class over Zoom on Tuesday, September 1st, at 6:30 PM. Explore the main features of the face. We’ll cover tips and techniques to make your portraits pop; how to make eyes shine, noses pop, and lips smile. All you need is paper, a pencil, and a mirror.
