*Join The Newton Free Library today, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. for an Author Talk with Erica Ferencik as she discusses the origin story of her stunning new novel Girl in Ice. In the book, Val, an American linguist, is tasked to journey to a remote climate research center off the coast of Greenland where a girl has thawed from the ice – alive – speaking a language no one understands. *The Newton Piano Summit 2022 begins Saturday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m. with Andrus Madsen and April Sun performing the Goldberg Variations. These talented pianists will kick off the Newton Piano Summit at Second Church in Newton, running from 1-3 p.m. for the next three Saturdays. *The Young People’s Multicultural Festival runs Saturday, May 7, 2:00-6:00 p.m. hosted by The Suzuki School of Newton. Enjoy an afternoon of family fun with multiethnic cuisine, dance, visual arts, and music from around the world at Suzuki Newton’s historic campus in Waban Village. Performances include Grooversity Brazilian Drumming Ensemble, Africano Waltham Dance Troupe, Pumawari Tusuy Peruvian Dance Troupe, and Suzuki School of Newton Faculty Ensemble. *The Scandinavian Cultural Center hosts a Nordic Playgroup on Saturday, May 7th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Bring your kids to play inside the beautiful Nordic Hall and outside on the lawn while Nordic languages are spoken and stories of Norse mythology are told. Visit here to learn more and hear the storyteller’s tales of trolls and gods.

*Duo Amie presents a benefit concert Shall We Dance? in support of Shelter Music Boston on Saturday, May 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Allen Center for Arts and Culture. Shall We Dance? is a celebration of dance music performed by the popular Boston-based piano-cello ensemble Duo Amie: Julie Reimann, cello, Ellyses Kuan, piano, with a guest appearance by Shelter Music Boston Artistic Director and renowned violinist, Adrian Anantawan. Tickets are available here for this worthwhile benefit concert that raises funds for sheltering those in need.
