*Zamir Chorale of Boston comes to the stage on Thursday, May 26, 7:30 pm with A Better World: A Concert Honoring Larry and Jill Sandberg. This live and streaming concert features a wide-ranging program of uplifting and powerful music including Thompson’s The Peaceable Kingdom and the U.S. premiere of Yehezkel Braun’s “Vehayah Be’akharit Ha-yamim” (In Days to Come). *New Rep’s New Voices Theatre Festival continues Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28 with various show dates and times. Each twenty-minute play brings to life work written and performed by artists whose work has not been seen on the New Rep stage. Each show includes performances of all three plays: AURORA written by Ramón Esquivel, ORGANIC written by Jenna Jane, and BY ANY OTHER NAME written by Erin Lerch. Come hear what these New Voices have to say.
*The Newton Cultural Alliance welcomes its neighbors for a fun day of festivities on Monday, May 30th from 1:00-5:00 pm for a Memorial Day Block Party. Join NCA Staff and Board of Directors under the tent for art activities, games, ice cream, and neighborhood camaraderie.
*On Tuesday, May 31st at 11:00 am, explore the Basics of Embroidery in this fun, free-form program at The Newton Free Library. Learn a few different stitches and create a spontaneous work of colorful art. No previous experience is needed. Register here for the class and accompanying embroidery kits.
*The Scandinavian Cultural Center will once again host the Newton Art Association‘s New Member Show on display in The Nordic Hall now through June 16. Visiting hours vary with an opening reception on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 2-4:30 p.m. For details on viewing visit here.
