*The Scandinavian Cultural Center celebrates Mother’s Day on Saturday, May 13th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm with the traditional Swedish Sandwich Cake, Smörgåstårta. Enjoyed year-round, especially during special celebrations, come down and try Smörgåstårta then attend a 1:30 pm screening of the Icelandic comedy, Grandma Hófí. *The Newton Piano Summit 2023 continues this weekend with four more unforgettable concerts on Saturday & Sunday, May 13 & 14 from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm. Enjoy world-class talent for free during an afternoon event at the convenient and acoustically superb Second Church in Newton. With Dennis Montgomery III, Utar Artun, Andrus Madsen, and Sylvia Berry this musical event will feature Gospel, Global, Jazz, Baroque, and Classical. *Suzuki School of Newton hosts a Multicultural Festival on Saturday, May 13, 3:00 – 6:00 pm with activities, exhibits, and performances. Boston Bhangra, Grooversity Brazilian Beats, Newton Watercolor Society along with the Preschool Art Show join in on the fun. Don’t miss the delicious International potluck at 4:00 pm. *On Saturday, May 13th at 8:00 pm, The Newton Community Chorus performs Brahms’ German Requiem at the Eliot Church of Newton. *Commonwealth Chorale is Celebrating Harmony in Troubled Times with John Rutter’s beloved Requiem and selections from works by Florence Price, the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer.
