*Swing by The Allen Center on Thursday, May 25th, and Thursday, June 1st from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, to see the Newton Art Association’s Spring Show now through June 3rd. For more information about the Newton Art Association and its awesome members check out their website.
*New Art Center presents an Opening Reception for Over the Rainbow on Thursday, May 25th at 6:00 pm. Over the Rainbow will celebrate pride in our intergenerational connections— expressing from a queer perspective what is safe for us and for our youth. Including individual and collaborative work from children to elders of Newton’s beautiful community, our goal is to encourage sharing resources between young people with energy and fresh ideas and the experiences and developed thoughts of our older generation. In tracing our queer lineage, we are resisting our history being pushed to the back of the closet.
*Amherst Early Music Memorial Day Weekend Workshop is this Friday – Monday, May 26-29th. Classes in a variety of subjects are available including repertory, notation, technique, and ensembles. In the evenings, enjoy all-workshop group sessions, English country dancing, a gala Sunday evening faculty concert and party, and more. Check out the details here.
*Saturday, May 27th at 7:30 pm, Newton Baroque presents Passions in the Palace: Concerti for a King, focusing on concerti by Johann Joachim Quantz on the 250th anniversary of his death. Quantz was the most important flutist/composer of the 18th Century and made a lasting impact on music in general. Tickets are available now.
