*Historic Newton presents Storytime at the Museums on Wednesday, February 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds, 286 Waverley Avenue, Newton. The bi-weekly Storytime program engages kids 0 months to 3 years old by focusing on literacy, Newton’s history, play, and lessons from our museums. Families are welcome to bring older siblings. *Newton Free Library presents Family Sing-a-Long on Thursday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m. Join us for a fun-filled sing-a-long filled with children’s favorites for ages 0-4. FREE and open to the public. More info at newtonfreelibrary.net.
*NewTV presents Shooting Techniques on Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the NewTV studio, 23 Needham Street, Newton. Learn the art of shot composition, from what makes a shot look “good” vs. “bad,” to when to use particular types of shots and how to provoke emotion through them. *Cappella Clausura presents Hildegard von Bingen’s “Ordo Virtutum” on Saturday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the Eliot Church of Newton, 474 Centre St. Newton. Immerse yourself in chanted opera: what Director LeClair calls the very first opera, written around 1150 by Abbess and now St. Hildegard von Bingen, fully staged for modern audiences with 18 women and men lending gender fluidity to the various ancient roles. *Newton Free Library presents Solo Violin Performance on Sunday, February 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium at the Newton Free Library, 330 Homer Street, Newton. Violinist Dorisiya Yosifova will perform works by Telemann, Bach, Kreisler and others. A native of Gabrovo, Bulgaria, Ms. Yosifova earned a Master of Music degree in violin performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. FREE and open to the public.
