*Cherry Street Music is heating things up this summer at The Allen Center with fun, affordable concerts every Tuesday night, beginning July 15th at 7 pm with “Hidden Gems.” Discover the music of lesser-known female composers in a unique concert experience, which will take place in The Allen Center’s intimate performance space, the Great Hall. Explore each composition with commentary by Cherry Street Music’s Artistic Director, Allison Eldredge, cello, who will perform with pianist Max Levinson. The second half of the program will feature Newton singer/songwriter/NNHS grad, Gaby Dimond, with her own version of the concert’s theme, “Hidden Gems,” with traditional tunes and some of her own.

*Aston Magna Music Festival comes to The Allen Center for its 52nd Season, running on Thursday, July 17, 24, 31 at 7:00 pm. Directed by Daniel Stepner, the musical program will inspire with 4 programs including Music from Thomas Jefferson’s Library, Late Mozart, From Castello to Canzano, and Fiddlers Four. *On Friday, July 18th at 6:00 pm, The Hyde Community Center hosts its annual summer series, Summer at the Hyde, featuring concerts, movies, theater productions, and cultural celebrations. This week’s Friday “Music and a Movie” includes Jabbering Trout, a headline act known for its catchy songwriting and high-energy performance style, followed by everyone’s favorite movie, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” More info and weather-related info can be found here.

*On Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:00 pm, Cherry Street Music brings another budget-friendly concert to The Allen Center with its Tuesday Evening Concert Series, “Summer Lite.” Experience Irish music by NNHS grad/Fiddler Isabel Oliart, along with a Jazz Quartet featuring Newton’s jazz aficionado and saxophone virtuoso Chris Pitts and Friends, on the patio or in The Allen Center‘s cozy performance venue. Join us for an exceptional blend of Newton artists performing Jazz favorites and traditional Irish fiddle music!

*Lunchtime Pop-Ups are back! The tents are on the patio, and summer pop-ups are returning for the third season, Thursdays, July 24- August 14, 11:30 am – 2:00 pm, featuring some of Newton’s most fun eateries and small businesses curated by All Over Newton. The first week will feature “Summer Shopping,” so come on by anytime for a day of shopping and eating outside under our tents or inside, weather dependent.
