*Join the New Art Center for their upcoming Artist Talk with Elisa Hamilton on Thursday, March 11th at 5:30 PM. Elisa H. Hamilton is a socially engaged multimedia artist who creates inclusive artworks that emphasize shared spaces and the hopeful examination of our everyday places, objects, and experiences. Hamilton’s work ranges from drawings and paintings to interactive installations and public programming – all grounded in a deep desire to bring people together in imagination, conversation, joy, and possibility. In this artist talk, Hamilton will discuss previous and current projects, as well as share her own perspective on what it means to create community-centered work. Click here for more information.
*Join the Newton Art Association’s next watercolor demo with Gary Tucker on Thursday, March 11th at 7:00 PM. Gary Tucker started painting with life long mentor and artist, Anita Fahs. She introduced oil painting, the impressionists, and the value of working from life. Eventually he was drawn east to Boston where he met Professor Kaji Aso at the SMFA. Professor Aso introduced eastern aesthetics, Calligraphy and Sumi painting. Gary quickly graduated to watercolor and found that he could achieve much more subtlety and expressiveness through this temperamental media. Click here to access the Zoom link.
*Amherst Early Music will hold their online class “Talking Trombones (and other wind instruments)” on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 PM. The wind repertoire has its roots in vocal music, and the method books used have aspects of speaking and singing to teach you to articulate and create sound on your instruments. In this class you will look at exactly how you can integrate and coordinate these main aspects of your technique in a way that enables you to produce effortless, detailed flowing vocal lines. You will have an opportunity to play selections from the class repertoire unmuted to receive feedback. Classes are $25 per session. Click here to register.
*Zamir Chorale will celebrate the music of the great composer Louis Lewandowski, on Sunday, March 14th at 7:30 PM. Lewandowski is arguably the greatest synagogue composer of the 19th century. His great choral works live on today not only in synagogues, but also on concert stages around the world. The program includes video performances of some of Lewandowski’s most beloved choral classics and interviews with cantors and conductors in the United States and Lewandowski’s Berlin. This program is free but registration is required and a donation is strongly encouraged! Learn more at Zamir’s website.
