*The City of Newton’s Office of Cultural Development hosts the Summer Music Series tonight, Wednesday, July 28th, at Coletti-Magni Park. Take a trip back in time with a local tribute band called The 60’s. Join your friends and neighbors at 6:30 p.m. for some live local music right here in Newton. Check out the full calendar for directions and weather information.
*Visit the Hyde Community Center Bandstand on Friday, July 30th starting at 6:00 p.m. with the Martin & Kelly Band. The incredibly talented duo of Jilly Martin and Ryan Brooks Kelly have become the next must-see act from New England to Nashville. Standouts in today’s crossover country music scene, Jilly and Ryan’s songs bridge the boundary between traditional and new country. Come get a little bit Country with the Kelly and Martin Band. If you stick around after the show you’ll get to watch everyone’s favorite summertime flick Ghostbusters. Who you gonna call?
*On Saturday, July 31st at 2:00 pm, The Newton Free Library invites you for it’s first in-person MakerSpace program to Create Your Own Pollinator Hotel. Using materials like paper, branches, and other natural objects make a Pollinator Hotel to attract local solitary bees and other helpful critters to your yard. Tools and supplies will be provided at the library, but feel free to BYO to DIY. Some examples of useful things to bring are reclaimed wood including old drawers, small crates and planks, pinecones, straw, clean tin cans, and newspaper. Register here to “bee” a pollinator pal.
*The Hyde Community Bandstand welcomes the second night of the 2021 Boston Asian Music International Festival on Saturday, July 31st starting at 6:00 p.m. A free three-night music series, the Boston Asian Music International Festival will feature some of the finest local musicians including traditional Chinese music played on instruments such as the erhu and the liuqin. Enjoy music from different genres by Asian and other musicians of color from top music institutes. The festival is a production of New Moon International, organized by the Chinese American Association of Lexington (CAAL), Belmont Chinese American Association and Weston Westar, the Boston International Media. Check out the full festival line up and locations here.
