*On Wednesday, August 18th at 6:30 p.m. the Newton Free Library will celebrate the end of the Tails & Tales summer reading program with a Minute To Win It event. The idea is to complete challenges in under a minute using simple, everyday items. This social event is for tweens and teens entering grades 6-12. Please meet in the Teen Area to head outside for fun and ice cream. Take a “minute” to check the details here.
*Visit the Hyde Community Center Bandstand on Friday, August 20th at 6:00 p.m. for Legit Band, a superb eight-piece band with a full horn section. Dance to modern-day music or enjoy the romance of the days of Sinatra and Basie. At Dusk catch the classic thriller Jaws, filmed right here in our very own Cape Cod. *The City of Newton’s Office of Cultural Development hosts the Summer Music Series featuring folk-rock melodies, blues guitar muscle, and rock and roll grit by The DayBreakers on Sunday, August 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at the Newton Centre Bowl. Join your friends and neighbors for some live local music right here in Newton. Check out the calendar for directions and weather information.
*Join NewTV for the end-of-summer Cones ‘n Cars on August 25th at 5:00 p.m. Dust off your saddle shoes and iron the poodle skirt for a 1950s-themed ice cream social and classic car show. Enjoy a scoop or two from Cabot’s and the RCN Ice Cream Truck, or try some baked goods while you peruse some souped-up rods provided by the Boston Cup Classic Car Show.
