Newton Baroque performs a concert featuring the setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah written by Giovanni Paolo Colonna (1637-1695). While Colonna is not so well known today, he was a highly sought-after composer in the mid to late 17th Century and wrote for the court in Ferrara, Modena, Florence, and the Hapsburg Court in Vienna. His musical style is creative, evocative, and very expressive.
