In this class we will delve into the context of the beloved Bach cello suites, seeing them for the ground-breaking works they were at the time, examining the sources, and what happens when slurs are unclear at best. We will discuss some of the many editions and talk about Baroque style, and Bach’s amazing understanding of harmony and resonance.
