New Art Center presents Holi: Festival of Color
March 20, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
About this event
Join the New Art Center for a festival of color to welcome Spring! Holi will start at 11 AM with artmaking including Madhubani flower pots, Rangoli sand art, and salad spinner splatter paintings. After getting creative with color, join Krithika Rajkumar for a dance demonstration and workshop where you can learn traditional Bharatanatyam dance. The conclusion of the event includes outdoor color play where you become the canvas for artmaking! You have the opportunity to participate in the very fun (and messy) tradition of throwing organic color powder at each other. Please wear white clothes you do not mind getting stained, protective eyewear or sunglasses, and bring towels for clean up afterward. There is no readmittance to the New Art Center building after color play.
Art activities are geared toward ages 4 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Drop-ins are also welcome.
We would like to extend our thanks to Janhavi Wadhwani and Rakashi Chand for assisting in planning this event, coordinating with New Art to create an authentic experience, and connecting us with many members of our community.
A special thank you to our sponsors:
Massachusetts Cultural Council, Newton Cultural Council, and the Village Bank
