*Last call to apply for the Celebrate Newton Holiday Craft Fair happening on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023. The fair will be celebrating its 20th year with over 50 local artisan vendors and a lineup of amazing live musicians. Celebrate Newton brings the whole community together for this much-loved shopping event at Newton South High School. Vendor applications close Friday, September 8th. Please share with anyone who would like to sell their one-of-a-kind crafts at Celebrate Newton. 

 *The Hyde Community Center’s Summer In the Highlands outdoor family concert and movie series closes this Friday, September 8th. This favorite summer Friday wraps with the sounds of the Boston Rock and Soul Revue followed by the movie Amazing Maurice. Bring your picnic blanket and hang out with your neighbors at this family-friendly community event. Check out the online schedule for full information and weather updates.

*The Scandinavian Cultural Center presents a screening of the film Hilma on Saturday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. Join the SCC to explore the enigmatic life of Hilma af Klint, now recognized as one of the West’s first abstract artists. Ticket details are not enigmatic, they are found here.

*Boston Taiwan Music Festival is set to make its debut at Hyde Community Center playground on Saturday, September 9th from 3:30-7:00 pm. This free-entry outdoor music festival is a unique opportunity to experience the music of local Taiwanese bands and talented musicians from Berklee College of Music. The festival is dedicated to promoting Taiwanese pop music and culture.

*The Newton Art Association hosts the first exhibition of the NAA 2023-2024 year with a reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00 pm. The 2024 Annual Membership Show at the Newton Free Library runs September 1st-29th. See what new works members have been making at this non-juried show.
