*Newton Art Association (NAA) presents a virtual demonstration with Massachusetts pastel artist Lisa Regopoulos. When Realism meets Impressionism in pastel, that’s where the excitement begins for Regopoulos. This free virtual demonstration will be on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00 p.m. Find the zoom link here.
*Visit the Hyde Community Center Bandstand on Friday, September 10th starting at 6:00 p.m. for the final Summer in the Highlands events. Enjoy soul, rock, and jazz music by Rock and Soul Revue featuring great vocals, solid rhythm, and a lively four-piece horn section. Dance until dusk then sit back and enjoy the classic characters, Marty McFly and Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Don’t miss the last events for Summer in the Highlands.
*Come back to the Hyde Community Center Bandstand on Sunday, September 12th at 4:00 p.m. and listen to the harmonizing trio of Into the Light. At 7:00 p.m. the storytelling event Storied Nights will feature the amazing Harold Cox, Don Picard, and Rose Saia with the theme “Fall.” You can get on stage yourself and tell a 5-minute story of a time when you took a fall (literal or otherwise) when you fell in love, or off the wagon, or maybe you needed a fall-back plan. Say goodbye to Summer in the Highlands and hello to Fall.
*Dust off your instrument and celebrate the start of the new school year with the Suzuki School of Newton on September 12th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The Back To School Block Party will consist of a play-in and a picnic at the school’s parking lot. The rain date will be September 19th. Party in the parking lot info here.
* Last chance to audition for musical opportunities this week! Read all about the NCA member groups that are holding audition opportunities in last week’s special blog post. Sing and play your heart out.
