* The Highland Glee Club is calling you! Come attend an open rehearsal on Tuesday, September 7th or 14th for one of the oldest men’s choruses in New England– Established in 1908. Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the performance of men’s choral music, The Highland Glee Club includes singers from all walks of life and many local communities. Their repertoire includes a variety of styles from show tunes and folk songs to classical, and pop music. Follow this link to “join the call.”
*One of Boston’s best regional orchestras – New Philharmonia will hold their auditions on September 10th through 12th. A non-professional community orchestra, founded in 1995, the New Phil plays “Music of, by and for the people.” This season’s programming will make for wonderful music-making with a rich repertoire for brass including Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Williams. Positions are available for all brass instruments (including co-principal positions), as well as substitute positions for all strings and winds. Apply here to make beautiful “Music for All.”
* Commonwealth Chorale is looking for new members with voices that blend good vocal technique and well-developed musical skills. A community-based chorus, Commonwealth Chorale takes music-making seriously, constantly striving to improve as an ensemble and to achieve ever-higher levels of musicianship. Auditions will be scheduled in September and are approximately 10 minutes in length. They include sight-reading, pitch matching, intervals, scales, and a short, prepared piece (a short art song, aria, or section of a classical choral work). Sign up here to make some serious music.
*Audition for the Zamir Chorale of Boston’s 2021-22 season on Sunday, September 12th. Founded in 1969, the Zamir Chorale of Boston’s mission is to awaken audiences to the breadth and beauty of Jewish culture. Zamir educates, inspires, and entertains through performances, symposia, recordings, publications, and the commissioning of new musical works. Auditions are by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance. Candidates should have an excellent vocal quality, the ability to sight-read music, and previous choral experience.
