NCA is keeping you connected with each other and with your favorite local arts and culture organizations. 

 *Join the New Art Center for their upcoming online class Mixed Media Mondays, beginning on Monday, January 4th at 9:30 AM, and lasting 5 weeks. Discover the possibilities of collage, printmaking, photo transfers, altered books and assemblage while creating expressive and meaningful works of art. Learn new ways to make your own unique papers and materials while experimenting with watercolors, ink, acrylics, papers and found objects. Throughout the semester there will be demonstrations and idea prompts geared towards developing new skills and defining your personal voice. All levels welcome. See website for materials list.

*First Church in Chestnut Hill is proud to present I’ll Be Home For Christmas, a video medley of beautiful holiday music. From now until January 4th, enjoy these traditional songs in celebration of the season, brought to you by Kathryn Rosenbach and the First Church Quartet. Click here to enjoy their video.

*Do you love chess and want to learn more about how to play the game? Join the Newton Free Library for Chess Skills and Games on Tuesday, January 5th at 4:30 PM.  Learn chess tips and tricks and play games together with a group online. Players must know in advance how the pieces move.  For ages 7-9. Space is limited. A zoom link will be sent out the day before the program. Registration closes at 4:30pm the day before the program. Click here to register.

*The New Art Center is excited to announce their upcoming youth acting class, Let’s Put on a Play! Beginning on Tuesday, January 5th at 3:30 PM, children will explore theater games, stories and shorter character pieces, using imagination and creative skills, in this exciting class taught over Zoom. Have fun as you develop self confidence and showmanship while working with award winning actor and sought-after Boston drama teacher Danny Bolton. Click here to register.

*Be sure to check out the Newton Art Association’s latest exhibition Art Works for Good, available for online viewing daily until February 14th. This holiday season the NAA is partnering with the Centre Street Food Pantry and the Newton Food Pantry for a fundraising event. NAA members will sell their art works and half of the selling price will go to the two food pantries. Click here to view the exhibition.
