*The Newton Piano Summit, supported by the Waban Improvement Society, is pleased to present Debo Ray, Nando Michelin & Ebinho Cardoso in Concert on Saturday, May 23, at 1:00 p.m. via Facebook Live. Overflowing with talent, Debo Ray has earned international praise for her performances in everything from doo-wop, funk, R&B, and jazz, to her work in education, video production, and fashion. Ray is also well known as a featured vocalist and music director of the award-winning, critically acclaimed group, Women of the World. Nando Michelin & Ebinho Cardoso will present music from their recent CD featuring songs based on the poems by Manoel de Barros. Their music, deeply rooted in the tradition of Brazilian popular music and jazz, builds on the beauty of the simple things just like De Barros intended in his poems. The Newton Piano Summit online concert series is FREE and, if you can, please make a tax-deductible donation through the Waban Improvement Society here–100% of revenue will be paid to the performers. *Amherst Early Music is pleased to offer again this weekend AEM Online on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. AEM Online features virtual classes taught each weekend by different faculty members.
