Culture 'n Cuisine

Culture 'n Cuisine, NCA's premiere economic development project, is a strategic collaboration in support of local organizations – connecting arts and culture with local businesses and the community.

Currently, the program is on hold but the NCA plans to reinvigorate it in 2023 with subscribing restaurants to offer Newton's arts and culture patrons a 10% discount on their meal upon the presentation of a concert ticket or an NCA event voucher. (*Alcohol and gratuity not included.)

NCA Annual Events

Strawberry Festival

NCA's Strawberry Festival is a celebration of summer, community, and arts and culture in Newton. NCA invites the community to don their fancy hats and come to the grounds of the historic Nathaniel Allen House in West Newton. Celebrate summer with live music, food, drink, lawn games, and more!

The 8th Annual Strawberry Festival will be held amidst a long weekend of events, on Thursday June 23, 2022.

Arts Stroll & Shop

The Arts Stroll & Shop is an annual collaborative, community event that celebrates local artists, food, and small businesses. The Stroll makes it easy and fashionable to shop local, eat local, and art local.

The Newton Cultural Alliance founded the Arts Stroll & Shop in December 2011 in Newton Centre. In its first year, The Stroll had 30 business participants from Newton Centre and Piccadilly Square, along with 50+ artists and musicians entertaining shoppers and diners. Empty storefronts were transformed into pop-up art galleries and the collaborative power of arts and business was apparent to all. Over the years, The Stroll has evolved into a fun-filled day that continues to delight Newton residents of all ages.

Holiday Craft Fair: Celebrate Newton

Celebrate Newton celebrates the work of outstanding artists who are residents of Newton or are in some other way connected to the city. Over 50 artisans display and sell their work at the fair; they include weavers, jewelers, quilters, potters, printers, photographers, and more. Live music, provided by local musicians, provides an inviting backdrop for the fair throughout the day.

The event was founded in 2002 as a fundraiser for the Newton Schools Foundation. Newton Community Education hosted the fair 2010-2019.  After a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Newton Cultural Alliance took over as host in 2021.
