*SMA ART – Small Works Exhibition Fundraiser is an online auction benefiting the Scandinavian Cultural Center. This arts explosion features 8×8 artworks created by artists in our local community and across the country. The online auction launched on Friday, May 1 and runs through Friday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m. Bidding starts at $50 and all funds will benefit the SCC and participating artists. *New Art Center is proud to present Make an Art Card Zoom Class on Thursday, May 7, at 10:00 a.m. Give back through Art! Get inspiration and ideas for making an Art Card for Newton Food Pantry to be delivered with groceries next week! Register for this FREE workshop to receive Zoom class meeting ID and password. *Newton Free Library presents a Facebook Live Concert with Sayuri Miyamoto and Joel Bard on Sunday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m. Join Sayuri Miyamoto, piano, and Joel Bard, oboe, for a concert that will include sonatas for oboe and piano by Camille Saint-Saëns and Francis Poulenc, and piano works by Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy. This concert will be livestreamed on Facebook. To watch, click here on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. FREE. *Historic Newton presents its Virtual Storytime! Join in the fun by visiting Historic Newton’s Facebook page for a story and craft this coming Wednesday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. and every Wednesday! Virtual Storytime is geared towards ages 0-3 and includes a reading from a children’s book and a demonstration of an activity that can be completed at home. FREE. Click here and enjoy! *Newton Theatre Company presents its next virtual Radio Hour: War of the Worlds, based on the novel by H.G. Wells, on Thursday, May 14, at 8:00 p.m. When a typical news program is interrupted by an alien invasion, broadcasters must provide live updates about the extraterrestrial threat in this 1939 sci-fi thriller.
